Iain Butler

Like many others, Iain was pushed away from art at school and only came back to creating later in life. He has tried most mediums over time, but always seems to come back to oil pastels and charcoal. Why is that? It is the immediacy of these mediums. There are no mixing colours or choosing brushes to get in the way, and Iain feels this allows him to create pictures that are free and expressive.

Iain tends to work with portraits as this allows him to explore the essence or character of the person or animal he is drawing.
