As a child Val loved drawing and painting, but between leaving school and retirement she did not pursue her hobby.  However, once she retired, she decided to join a weekly Art Class and also to become a member of The Society of Ruislip Artists.

Val’s favourite subjects are people and animals, but she would attempt to portray other subjects if inspired by something she chances to see.

Drawing is still Val’s favourite medium, using graphite or Conte pencils, closely followed by watercolours.  She also enjoys using acrylics and oil pastels.
